GIRL CHILD DAY
24th January is celebrated as National Girl
Child Day since 2009 , every year. On this day, in 1966 Smt. Indira Gandhi
became first woman Prime Minister of India and so, 24th January was
selected as National Girl Child Day to commemorate the event. The main objective of celebrating this day is to bring attention on the issue of
depleting female to male ratio and take a stand
on issues of female foeticide , domestic violence and malnutrition in girl
child.
